The Forgiven Duke: Review & #Giveaway

I am getting to read my first ever pre-released copy of a book! This is the second book in the Forgotten Castles Trilogy. Some of you may remember the review of  The Guardian Duke that I wrote back in February. I definitely encourage you to get "into" this series!
Now, which one of my readers would like a copy of this book of their very own?
All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell me who your favorite Christian author is! Then fill out the easy Rafflecopter form, additional entries can be obtained!
Jamie Carie is becoming one of mine for sure!

About the Book:
"Tethered by her impulsive promise to marry Lord John Lemon - the path of least resistance - Alexandria Featherstone sets off toward Iceland in search of her parents with a leaden heart. A glimpse of her guardian, the Duke of St. Easton - the path less traveled by - on Dublin’s shore still haunts her.

Will he come after her? Will he drag her back to London, quelling her mission to rescue her treasure-seeking parents, or might he decide to throw caution to the wind and choose Foy Pour Devoir: “Faith for Duty,” the St. Easton motto. The Featherstone motto Valens et Volens: “Willing and Able,” beats in her heart and thrums through her veins. She will find her parents and find their love, no matter the cost.

The powerful yet wing-clipped Duke of St. Easton has never known the challenge that has become his life since hearing his ward’s name. Alexandria Featherstone will be the life or the death of him. Only time and God’s plan will reveal just how much this man can endure for the prize of love."

In Oklahoma, We NEVER Forget April 19, 1995

Where were you on April 19, 1995?

What an emotional question if you are an Oklahoman and if you have an memory at all of that tragic event. The first act of terrorism on American soil killing 168 of our own and then to find out that an American cititzen, an American soldier who had defended our country, actually had commited this act. The acts that followed the bombing give me a great sense of pride and make me so proud to call Oklahoma home! Oklahomans from all over the state joined in on the rescue efforts, those who couldn't gave blood, sent supplies, and prayed!

So, where was I? In Weatherford, OK. I was in my first semester of my senior year at SWOSU. I had just finished up my eight o'clock class and had a conference with my Grammar professor, yes I had Grammar at one time in my life. The conference was over my senior thesis, Communication in Management. The meeting did not take that long, I'm not sure why.  I was back in my dorm room by 9:30, those of us students lucky to have any reception or cable on our TV's were glued to our sets, the one's that didn't have TV's were glued to our sets. We were in awe. I don't know the stats, but probably a lot of students missed classes the remainder of the day as news filtered in. We were 70 miles west of the site. For those of us who didn't know someone in the Murrah Building, we knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone.

It was a real awakening moment for a college senior, knowing that my life was getting ready to start and that such evil was out there. I still was very protected and naive. I remember driving back home to Wilson from Weatherford on the weekends through El Reno on I-40, knowing that was where Timothy McVeigh was, and seeing the sign "Warning Hitchhikers may be escaped Inmates".

I finally visited the Oklahoma City Memorial seven years ago. It is beautiful, it is peaceful- but it is a complete shame that we had to build such a place. I will never forget that tragic day 17 years ago today.
A day that stands out in the minds of all Oklahomans and for me shows just how much this nation needs God!
Where were you?

Rascal Flatts Un- #Changed and Better than Ever

Country music trio Rascal Flatts, with AEG Live and NCM Fathom, held a one-night only special theater event in New York City last Thursday evening, April 5 , titled "Changed." The event coincided with the release of the band's eighth studio album of the same name, which was released on the 3rd . The film was broadcast to over 600 theaters nationally. I had the opportunity through One2One Network to go to this theater review and take another fan- my husband!

We are huge Rascal Flatts fans. And after seeing these three men explain the change that has taken place within each of them and as a group, our fan status remains unchanged. I never imagined the level of emotion that Jay Demarcus, Gary Levox, and Oklahoma's own Joe Don Rooney would express to the theater audiences. Their love for music, each other and especially family is why "Changed" will probably be their 7th number one album.

'Changed' is the record label to Big Machine, also changed is what I describe as a invigoration of sound, more spice. These guys can sing! In the 45 minutes of music they played a mixture of classic Rascal Flatts to of course the new album. I can honestly say, we love the new album. There were times I wanted to get up and rock out like I was at their concert a few years back. The new titles, "Hot In Here","She's Leaving", "Come Wake Me Up", "Changed" and "Banjo" were played. Let me just tell you now, "Hot In Here" is SEXY and "She's Leaving" makes you totally want to ROCK OUT, while "Changed" gets you into a serious inspirational mood!

I tweeted some during the presentation, yeah- I can sing and tweet at the same time. It was fun reading other tweets about the event. I wasn't able to take many pictures. There wasn't anything to take pictures of, there was absolutely no promotional materials in the theater. So here are a few snapshots of our night that I will leave you with.

Me- All dolled up for a DATE!!!

The ONLY marketing material

Looks like I was at a concert doesn't it?

Did you know that you can win a FLY AWAY TRIP & TICKETS to see Rascal Flatts? All you have to do is enter on this link or the link on the right side of my blog!

I was provided 2 tickets at no cost, at a value of $15, to attend this event and report my opinion.

Pookie and Tushka Book Review with a #Giveaway

My 5 year old baby girl is learning to read. Okay, maybe just learning to identify sight words, but hey that is a start right? Nothing makes my heart smile more than for her to curl up next to me and lay her head on my shoulder while I am reading and get excited as she tells me "Mom, you are reading my sight words in your book!"

I recently purchased the book "Pookie and Tushka find a little piano" by Jorge on my Kindle Fire for her and I to read together. I was browsing through the children's titles and came across this one and was immediately attracted for several reasons.
  1. "BEST NEW CHILDREN'S BOOK OF THE YEAR"
  2. The title- Tushka, Oklahoma is my Moma's hometown (the character in the book is of no relation, although I have communicated this information to the publisher)
  3. The sweet cover. What can be sweeter than a penguin and a polar bear in childlike form?
So, we read about the frozen little piano that arrived to the shores of the Icelands, bringing Pookie the penguin and Tushka the polar bear fun, excitement, and a heartwarming lesson about the essence of friendship.and we LOVED it. Loved it so much that this is the comment I left on Pookie and Tushka's Facebook page.

"Just read Pookie and Tushka to my five year old daughter. We loved it! The facts at the end were amazing and the very END leaves us wanting to know more about this unusual friendship!"

The details of the book are amazing, especially the end where it talked about the difference between the Penquins and Polar Bears and Antarctic and Arctic Regions. My daughter and I were able to discuss this book unlike any other book before. Through my Facebook conversation, I offered to review and let my readers know about this book and the publisher is kindly offering a Pookie and Tushka Deluxe App code to 9 blessed readers of The 4-Crow's. The app is packed with games, songs, read and listen, and educational activities. This iBook app is by far the best I have found so far for my daughter! I played around a bit with it on my iPhone and I can only imagine what it is like on an iPad! Have I mentioned that I really NEED an iPad? LOL!

And as I predicted, before I knew more about these cute characters there is more Pookie and Tushka! They are so excited to be crossing even more into the education world this month. "My First ABC with Pookie and Tushka" is available now through Amazon and the interactive version will soon be available through iTunes! "Pers®, the cutting edge children’s entertainment company, is now joining leading education services
companies like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill and Pearson in delivering educational titles on
the iBookstore and the Kindle Store. Pers’ first eBook, "Pookie and Tushka find a little piano", winner of the BEST NEW CHILDREN’S BOOK OF THE YEAR, is already a TOP TEN Children’s Book at Apple’s iBookstore and at the Amazon Kindle Store."

Now, which of my 9 readers want a Pookie and Tushka Deluxe App code? The mandatory entry is to leave me your email address in the comments and tell me who you will read/discover this app with?
